Vancouver Syrian Cuisine: Spring Recipes & Ramadan Dining

Here at Tayybeh, some of our team members’ favourite season is spring, with its renewing greenery, fresh farmed seasonal produce and the longer, sunnier days throughout. 

In our kitchen, we do our best each day to capture the essence of spring’s natural bounty, filling our restaurant with the aroma of fresh herbs, crisp veggies and bright citrus, all essential components of our Syrian cuisine. 

With our cooking deeply rooted in freshness and seasonality, spring is one of the most exciting times for chefs with the newest arrivals of fresh, healthy ingredients after the long Canadian winter months. Think leafy greens, crispy cucumbers and juicy tomatoes. 

Here are some of the dishes we find quintessential for enjoying via dine-in, takeout, delivery and catering this season.

Roast Chicken

Juicy and tender roast chicken legs, marinated in Tayybeh’s signature blend of spices, then oven-roasted to perfection. Served atop fragrant Mandi Rice, this dish brings warmth and depth to the table, making it a comforting and satisfying centerpiece to any springtime spread.

Fattoush 

Another springtime favourite, our Fattoush features a medley of lettuce, parsley, tomato, sumac and garlic, all of which is tossed in lemon and olive oil and served with a topping of house-made pita chips and pomegranate molasses. 

For a fresh take on Fattoush, try our Eggplant Fattoush Salad, made with grilled eggplant, lettuce, parsley, tomato, sumac, garlic, lemon, olive oil and the topping of pita chips plus pomegranate molasses.

Mhammara

Beyond salad, spring is a wonderful season for indulging in fresh, flavourful dips and spreads. 

Our most popular dip is our traditional Mhammara, a Syrian sweet red pepper spread also containing walnuts, gluten-free breadcrumbs, onion and olive oil. 

Our Doors Are Open - Experience Tayybeh During Ramadan

During the month of March, our team and many of our customers observe the holy month of Ramadan, inclusive of fasting and serving special Iftar menus for breaking these fasts come sundown.

However, we love to remind non-observing community members that our doors are always open to everyone and we invite any local patron to experience the vibrant flavours of Syrian cuisine this month and beyond. 

We strive to create a welcoming atmosphere where everyone can savour the fresh, seasonal flavors of Syria.
