VANCOUVER, Feb 01, 2024 - Tayybeh Foods, a BC-based Syrian foodservice enterprise, has now opened the doors to its first brick-and-mortar location for dine-in and takeout in Kitsilano, Vancouver.
First launched in 2016 as an initiative to employ, uplift and empower uprooted Syrian refugees in Canada, Tayybeh began their passionate food journey by hosting various ticketed pop-up dinners and buffets throughout the Lower Mainland with proceeds going to support their newly landed chefs.
From there, the initiative grew into a fully registered social enterprise specializing in the catering and delivery of Syrian dishes made from authentic family recipes shared by the brand’s all-women refugee staff. Popular selections within their BC community have included Syrian Beef Kebabs, Chicken Sheesh Tawook, Rolled Vine Leaves, Homestyle Pita Chips and their Sweet Red Pepper Spread (Mhammara).
“This has long been a dream for our amazing all-women team,” said Nihal Elwan, Founder and CEO of Tayybeh Foods. “They have been dreaming of having a space where they can welcome the community and showcase some of their most popular dishes. We hope all of you will come out to show our chefs some love. Come for dine-in or pick up some of your favourite Tayybeh dishes.”
In addition to its February 1st soft opening, the staff at Tayybeh are excited to be hosting their first in-house ticketed dinners on Valentine’s Day, featuring a 5-course menu and live entertainment by Syrian music duo Rasha Youssef & Grace. Two seatings are being made available, one from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM and the second from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
