We were honoured to be the caterer of choice for The Bloom Group’s Inaugural 2023 HUGStar Awards, an event including an awards ceremony, catered cocktail reception, silent auction, and live music.

The Bloom Group has been serving Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside community for over 60 years, responding to urgent needs and resolving pressing and complex challenges. Since 1961, they have led many of our community’s most progressive social services to reduce homelessness, provide end-of-life care for individuals with mental health challenges and additions, ensure women-led families in crisis can stay together as they rebuild their lives, provide financial management for at-risk seniors, and much more.

A Celebration of Compassion and Kindness

The Inaugural 2023 HUGStar Awards was held to honour outstanding individuals, businesses and corporations who have demonstrated exceptional kindness, humanity, and resilience. The evening brought everyone together to celebrate the stories of British Columbians who have overcome extraordinary adversity to give back to their community. The Bloom Group also raised critical funds to provide housing, healthcare and social services for the vulnerable.

As the chosen caterer, we were touched that Tayybeh got to be part of the inspiring evening and The Bloom Group wanted to support our community and mission.

An Outdoor Reception and Family-Style Dinner

The evening began with an outdoor reception where folks enjoyed small appetizers and canapes with drinks, while mingling on the large outdoor patio. As the night went on, guests were served family-style dinners as they enjoyed the awards show and the rest of the festivities. The organizers at the Bloom Group curated their own menu for the night, as we specialize in personalized catering packages.

With the help of the community, The Bloom Group was able to raise $77,500 for Vancouver’s most vulnerable individuals. They were able to honour 9 exemplars of kindness, generosity, humanity and resilience. It was a night to remember, filled with love and kindness, as we were surrounded by inspiring individuals from across the province. Throughout the night, we had several guests approach us praising the food, mentioning the delicious and vibrant flavours as well as the large portions. Everyone loved the dishes, and even asked us how to place orders individually! We look forward to participating in future events with The Bloom Group.
