At Tayybeh, every dessert is a story waiting to be indulged in. Prepared with love by our all-women Syrian team, each bite will take you on a journey through the rich culinary history and diverse flavours of our Syrian heritage.

Here are some of the most popular desserts on our menu, as well as their perfect pairings to best elevate your Tayybeh dining experience. 

Featured Dessert: Knafeh, Our Golden Delight!

A beloved dessert in-house, through our catering and in our home country, Knafeh is a golden crisp shredded angel hair pastry filled with creamy cheese and topped with honey and pistachio, resulting in textual and flavour contrasts.

It’s crunchy, chewy, and creamy, and the sweetness of the honey balances the nutty flavour. MMM!

Pair your Tayybeh Knafeh with a bold black tea to further balance the sweetness of the Knafeh while refreshing the palate. This dessert also goes great with our Arabic coffee as the beverage’s aroma and more bitter notes do well to bring out the sweetness of the Knafeh for a harmoniously paired, indulgent treat. 

Enjoying a main dish before the Knafeh? We recommend our melt-in-your-mouth Slow-Cooked Lamb - served with mandi rice, fatoush salad, creamy hummus and a tangy yogurt sauce. This rich and savoury dish is a wonderful counterbalance to the sweetness of the Knafeh. 

Baklava

A luxurious yet quintessential dessert, this rich, satisfying phyllo pastry is filled with chopped walnuts and topped with our sweet syrup. Your tastebuds will love the contrasting combination of flaky layers, nutty filling and a touch of sweetness. 

Similar to Knafeh, black tea and Arabic coffee both make the best beverages to complement the flavour profile and sweetness of the Baklava. 

For a main menu pairing, we recommend our Mujaddara! Vegan and gluten-free, this lentil and rice pilaf is served with cabbage salad, and hummus and is topped with caramelized onion - a hearty comfort dish to balance with a sweet, nutty dessert!

The Lady’s Bracelet

A dessert that oozes elegance, The Lady’s Bracelet is a Baklava-style dessert that is round and filled with pistachios instead of chopped walnuts. 

If you’ll be enjoying a Tayybeh lunch or dinner before your dessert, we suggest our Tabbouleh! The fresh main ingredients, such as parsley and tomatoes, make for a light, refreshing eat before indulging in the pistachio goodness. (Tabbouleh is also our Tuesday special!)

Maamoul

Delicate, comforting and oh-so-delicious, our traditional Maamoul cookies are available with date, walnut or pistachio filling - perfect for any and every occasion. 

Our favourite beverages to enjoy with either of the three include a simple glass of cold milk or a creamy latte. Hot chocolate can also be a comforting complement, especially in the cold falls and winters here in Kitsilano.

For your pre-cookie main course, our staff suggests our tender Sheesh Tawook - halal and gluten-free chicken skewers served with mandi rice, fatoush salad and hummus.
