As 2024 draws to a close and a new year presents the promise and opportunity of fresh starts, restarts or continuations, NYE traditions often provide people with a comforting or motivating bridge between the past, the present and the near future.
At Tayybeh, our all-women team celebrates the traditions of our homeland of Syria, especially those passed down through generations. These commonly centre around delicious food, a sense of warmth and togetherness as well as a deep sense of community.
While Christmas and New Year’s Day are official public holidays in Syria, the true emphasis of the winter season lies in more spread out communal celebrations and shared experiences, rather than just solely focusing on very specific calendar dates.
Syrian Celebrations: Family, Food and Festivities
As Syrian women, we are often the orchestrators of our end-of-year traditions, upholding emphasis on hospitality, generosity, belonging and the continuity of these traditions - especially through the making of elaborate signature meals and desserts.
Specific traditional dishes, gathering types and activities can differ from region to region but what they have in common are the spirit of togetherness, the sharing of stories, playing beloved games and putting in the effort to engage in (and enjoy) each other’s company.
This is why the sense of community and making a family of our patrons resonate so deeply with our Tayybeh team.
Sharing Syrian Flavours and Traditions with Our Vancouver Community
Just as women in our home of Syria have a natural inclination and passion for creating a welcoming atmosphere in their homes during the holidays and throughout the year, our team at Tayybeh strives daily to create a similar experience for our diners and our catering clients.
We wake up each morning truly believing that food isn’t just for the nourishment of our appetite, it's a way to connect with others, share conversations and bridge communities and their cultures.
A Heartfelt Thank You for 2024
As we reflect on the past year, we at Tayybeh want to express our deepest gratitude for your unwavering support. Your patronage has allowed us to continue sharing the authentic flavours of Syria, passed down through generations of strong Syrian women.
Each smile, each shared meal, and each kind word has warmed our hearts. Your presence in our restaurant has made it more than just a place to eat; it's a gathering place, a community hub where stories are shared, friendships are forged, and delicious food is savoured.
Looking forward to 2025, we invite you to join us at Tayybeh for a celebration of new beginnings, a menu of flavours to explore and the joy of coming together for a family meal, a personal treat or a simple cup of Arabic coffee.
Made to be shared and enjoyed amongst yourself and your favourite people, we recommend our newest menu additions including our melt-in-your-mouth Slow-Cooked Lamb Family Platter (served with fattoush salad, creamy hummus served, pita bread and tangy yogurt) and our Dips Trio - Classic Hummus, Smoky Mutabbal, and Red Pepper Mhammara served with pita bread and our Homemade Crispy Pita Chips.
Our restaurant is located at 2836 W 4th Ave in Kitsilano, Vancouver.
We wish you and your loved ones a year brimming with happiness, peace, and of course, delicious food.
Let's make 2025 a year of shared experiences and meaningful connections.
