Vegan Valentine’s Day: Delicious Dinner Ideas for Two

Vegan Valentine’s Day: Delicious Dinner Ideas for Two

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Whether you’re spending it with friends, family or a special someone, why not treat yourself with some delicious Syrian cuisine?

This year, we’re bringing delicious vegan and vegetarian options to the comfort of your home with our Valentine’s Day Dinner menu. Celebrate love this February 14 through some delicious, vegan, authentically Syrian dinner ideas.

Here are the Syrian and Middle-Eastern vegan and vegetarian specialties you can enjoy on this year’s Valentine’s Day dinner menu:

Dips and Appetizers:

  • Mhammara (vegan, gluten-free). This traditional, tangy Syrian sweet red pepper spread is made with walnuts, gluten-free breadcrumbs, onion and olive oil. Scoop it up with some authentically baked pita bread, made in house by our chefs.

(Top tip! Mhammara is an extremely versatile spread. You can also use it for pasta sauces, on roast potatoes or to add some more flavour to an omelette.)

  • Cheese Sambousak (vegetarian). The Middle East’s answer to South America’s famous empanada, these half-moon crispy pockets are baked to golden perfection and filled with Tayybeh's homestyle cheese and parsley.

Salad:

  • Beet Tabbouleh (vegan). Tabbouleh is one of the most widely eaten Syrian food dishes, thanks to its simplicity, versatility and of course delicious flavours. This fabulous twist on a traditional tabbouleh includes hand chopped beets, parsley, bulgur wheat, onion, lemon, olive oil and pomegranate molasses.

A light, tasty accompaniment to any main dish!

Main:

  • Moussaka (vegan). Our Syrian moussaka recipe is made with the vegan, gluten-free ingredients of beautifully seasoned eggplant, zucchini, onion and potatoes in a rich tomato sauce. This tasty, healthy and wholesome dish is one of our favourite vegan offerings at Tayybeh!

Sides:

Complement your mains with the traditionally Syrian side dishes of root vegetables, roasted in olive oil and spices, and slow-cooked, spiced basmati rice.

Dessert:

Enjoy our Syrian twist on traditional petit-fours to finish up your meal. Serve with strong coffee for the optimum Middle Eastern experience!
