Hospitality With Purpose: An Evening in Support of Women and Children

Some evenings are about more than gathering around good food.

In September, Tayybeh welcomed guests for a special evening in support of Atira Women's Resource Society and the important work they do to support women and children impacted by violence.

The evening brought together food, music and community around a cause that matters deeply to us.

An Evening With a Purpose

From the beginning, this event was created with a purpose: to raise awareness and support for an organization working every day with women and children in our community.

Guests gathered at Tayybeh to enjoy an evening of authentic Middle Eastern and Mediterranean food, live music and conversation while supporting the work of Atira Women's Resource Society.

The restaurant was filled with the sounds of music, shared conversations and tables of food. But behind the celebration was an important reminder of why everyone was there.

Every ticket, contribution and person who joined us helped support the purpose behind the evening.

Food and Hospitality Can Create Something Bigger

At Tayybeh, food has always been about more than what is served on the plate.

Middle Eastern hospitality is rooted in generosity. We welcome people to the table, share what we have and make room for conversation and connection.

That spirit was especially meaningful on this evening.

Through food and hospitality, we were able to create an experience where our community could enjoy themselves while also learning more about an organization doing important work.

Supporting Women Is Part of Our Story

This partnership also felt meaningful because of Tayybeh's own story.

Since Tayybeh began in 2016, our mission has been to continue supporting newcomer women by creating opportunities for employment, financial independence and social integration while sharing their exceptional food and culinary traditions with our community.

Our work is different from the work of Atira Women's Resource Society, but we share an understanding of how important access to support, opportunity and community can be in women's lives.

Supporting this event was one small way for Tayybeh to stand behind work that helps women and children in our community.

What We Took Away From the Evening

The success of the evening wasn't only about filling the restaurant.

It was about using the space, food and hospitality we have to support something meaningful.

It reminded us that restaurants and local businesses can play a role in their communities in many different ways. Sometimes that means donating. Sometimes it means creating employment opportunities. And sometimes it simply means opening your doors and bringing people together around a cause worth supporting.

We are grateful to Atira Women's Resource Society, everyone who attended, everyone who contributed, our performers and partners, and the Tayybeh team who helped make the evening possible.

Most importantly, we hope the evening helped bring greater attention and support to the important work being done for women and children impacted by violence.

At Tayybeh, we believe good hospitality should leave something behind beyond a good meal.

This evening did exactly that.
